The Devon Preservation Alliance promotes the continued utilization of the Devon Show Grounds area, and assists with related historic preservation initiatives in the community by offering education and resources.  Our mission is to protect the historic and culturally important Devon Show Grounds area, and surrounding community for the enjoyment and enlightenment of residents, equine enthusiasts and visitors – now and for generations to come.

Equestrian competitors, fans and enthusiasts from around the globe know well the distinctive and magical attraction of the Devon Show Grounds,  rightly recognized for the special atmosphere generated by hosting world-class competitions that acknowledge, respect, and contribute to the venue's unspoiled charm. Equally compelling is the story of the community that grew around this celebrated event.

The cultural traditions developed and cultivated at the Devon Show Grounds are both a reflection of and an enhancement to the character of the surrounding community.  For over 100 years, the equestrian events held at the Devon Show Grounds have played an essential role in defining the cultural identity of Devon, Easttown Township, Chester County, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  This vital heritage unites and defines the community of individuals who share the Devon Preservation Alliance's commitment to preserving the historical and cultural significance of the Devon Show Grounds.

One of the most prominent advocates for historic recognition and preservation of Devon was former Chairman and President, Leonard King. Under Mr. King's leadership, the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Foundation was created, and  title to the show grounds was reacquired. In 1996 he oversaw the preparation and submission of a nomination for recognition on the National Register of Historic Places.  More recently, in 2010, with Mr. King as its Chair, the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair, Inc. made an arrangement with the Tredyffrin Easttown Historical Society that provided for the preservation, digitization and presentation of Devon's historical photographs, documents, and artifacts.

The Devon Preservation Alliance enjoys support from members of the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair, Dressage at Devon, Brandywine Valley Summer Series, and Devon Fall Classic communities. The Alliance is firmly dedicated to acting in ways that honor the cultural identities of both the equestrian and local communities.
